Flotilla 19 Public Affairs

The Public Affairs mission of the USCG Auxiliary has many parts.  One very important part is the "Spreading of the word." Or as we like to say, "Telling the story."  Countless times we have heard, "I didn't know anything about this group."

To tell the story well, we rely on our friends in the media. Here in Bay County we are very fortunate to have the support of our newspapers, radio and television stations.  With their help we are spreading the word, telling and showing the Auxiliary and the Flotilla's story.

Another very import part of our public affairs mission  is our public outreach programs.  Getting our message across face-to-face by presenting the safe boating Marine Safety, and America's Water Way Watch message to civic, school, and club groups is one way to promote safer boating practices, port security, and encourage marine environmental protection.  Helping citizens to become more aware of how to watch our water ways for suspicious activity and how to safely report to the US Coast Guard keeps all of us safer.

Your group may request to have presentation on any the following topics by contacting FSO-PA, Randall Akins.

Topics may include but are not limited to:

America's Water Way Watch
Boating Safety for Children
Hypothermia in Warm Climates
The USCG Auxiliary and What do They Do
Membership in the Auxiliary
Environmental Protection of St. Andrews Bay and Local Water Ways
Marine Safety and Port Security
Know, Know, Know Your Boat
Boat Handling
Rules of the Road, Navigation Rules and Etiquette

To request a guest speaker, please contact FSO-PA, Randall Akins.

You may also request a visit from our Safety Boat, Coastie, for your special event.
